Quick Summary

Most government services in India run through official websites - Aadhaar, PAN, PF, voter ID, ration card, health, housing, passport and transport. This guide lists all 16 official portals in one place so you always reach the real site. Each entry tells you what the portal does and which level of government runs it.

What This Guide Is About

Think about the government work you do online. Updating your Aadhaar, checking your PF balance, applying for a passport, getting a driving licence - all of it happens on a website. But for every real portal, fake look-alike sites also exist.

They can trick you into paying wrong fees or sharing personal details.

This guide puts all 16 official government portals in one place. Each one comes with its correct link, the department that runs it, and what you can actually do there. Use it as your starting point so you always land on the genuine website.

The 16 Official Portals

1. Aadhaar - MyAadhaar (UIDAI)

Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in to update your address, mobile number or biometrics. You can also download e-Aadhaar and check your enrolment status. Most online requests need an OTP on your registered mobile.

2. PAN services - Income Tax e-Filing portal

The Income Tax portal handles PAN work along with tax filing. You can check your Aadhaar-PAN linking status, validate your PAN and update your tax profile. This is the official route for most income-tax work.

3. New PAN or corrections - Protean PAN Services

Protean, earlier known as NSDL, is the Income Tax Department's authorised PAN provider. Apply for a new PAN, fix mistakes, order a reprint or track your application here. Your physical PAN card is posted after online verification.

4. EPF - EPFO Unified Member Portal

EPF members log in here to see passbook balances and file PF withdrawal or advance claims. You can also update your KYC. Claim money is credited to the bank account linked with your UAN-KYC.

5. ESIC - Employees State Insurance Corporation

ESIC gives health and cash benefits to insured employees and their families. Employers can register and pay contributions on the portal. Workers can access e-Pehchan cards and find dispensary details.

6. Voter ID - ECI Voters' Service Portal

Register as a new voter, correct your details, shift your constituency or download your e-EPIC here. A Booth Level Officer verifies your application before the electoral roll is updated.

7. Ration Card - NFSA State/UT portal page

The NFSA page lists the official ration-card portal for every State and UT. You apply for a new card, add a family member or complete e-KYC through your own State's system.

8. Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY - National Health Authority

PM-JAY gives cashless hospital cover for secondary and tertiary care to eligible families. Check your eligibility, search for empanelled hospitals and download your Ayushman card here.

9. ABHA Health ID - ABDM

ABHA is a free 14-digit health ID. It links your health records across hospitals and labs. You verify with Aadhaar or a driving licence, and records are shared only with your consent.

10. PMAY Urban - PMAY-U MIS

PMAY-U helps urban families with housing through beneficiary-led construction, affordable housing partnerships and home-loan interest subsidy. The portal shows application status and city-wise project data.

11. PMAY Gramin - PMAY-G

PMAY-G gives money for rural housing to households identified through SECC data. You can see sanction lists, instalment status and beneficiary details by gram panchayat.

12. Passport - Passport Seva

This is the official channel for fresh passports, reissues, appointments and fee payment. Your documents are checked at a PSK or POPSK appointment, and police verification follows if needed.

13. Driving Licence and Vehicles - Parivahan

Parivahan's Sarathi and Vahan services cover learner's licences, driving licences, vehicle registration and permits across States. Most services are fully online with RTO appointment slots.

14. DigiLocker

DigiLocker stores government-verified digital documents like Aadhaar, PAN, RC and insurance papers. Documents pulled straight from issuing departments count as originals under the IT Act.

15. UMANG

UMANG is one app and portal for many central and State services, including EPFO, gas booking, PAN and DigiLocker. A single login gets you into hundreds of services.

16. State and UT Service Directory - National Portal of India

This directory lists official State and UT services and links to each State's own portal. It is the safest place to start when a State, not a central ministry, runs the service.

Which Portal Should You Use?

  • Link PAN with Aadhaar or file taxes - Income Tax portal (Central)
  • Apply for or correct a PAN card - Protean PAN Services (Central)
  • Check PF balance or file a claim - EPFO Unified Member Portal (Central)
  • Register as a voter or get e-EPIC - ECI Voters' Service Portal (Central)
  • Find your State's ration card portal - NFSA State/UT portals (Central and State)
  • Check PM-JAY eligibility or find hospitals - pmjay.gov.in (Central)

  • PAN linking, validation and tax work run on the Income Tax portal and the authorised Protean PAN portal.
  • EPF members check balances and file claims on the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
  • Voter registration, corrections and e-EPIC are on the ECI Voters' Service Portal.

  • PMAY Urban and PMAY-G handle urban and rural housing help.
  • Passport and driving licence services run on Passport Seva and Parivahan.
  • DigiLocker and UMANG give you one-point access to documents and many services.

Timing to Keep in Mind

  • You can do Aadhaar demographic updates online any time. Biometric updates follow UIDAI's own schedule.
  • Voter roll revisions happen in special drives that the Election Commission announces through the year.
  • PMAY-G and PMAY-U instalments move as per the sanction and completion milestones shown on their portals.

How to Apply

  1. Pick the right portal from the list of 16 before you start any application.
  2. Most portals need an OTP on your registered mobile number - keep it handy.
  3. For Aadhaar updates, use myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in; visit an Aadhaar centre for biometric changes.
  4. For EPF work, log in to the EPFO Unified Member Portal with your UAN and OTP.
  5. For ration card work, open the NFSA state portal page and follow your own State's system.

Common Mistakes

  • Landing on a look-alike website instead of the official portal - always check the link from this list first.
  • Trying to apply for a ration card on a central site, when your State runs the service.
  • Forgetting that most online updates need an OTP sent to the mobile number linked with your record.
