Centre to Hold National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026

What Happened

The Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare is holding a National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026. The two-day event will take place on 28-29 September 2026. The venue is the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will open the conference. State Agriculture Ministers, senior central and state officials, ICAR representatives and other partners will attend.

Why It Matters

This meeting brings the Centre and the states to one table. Together, they will plan a joint strategy for the coming Rabi season. The aim is to raise farm production, productivity and sustainability. It also aims to raise farmers' incomes. The talks will build on lessons from the recent Zonal Conferences on Agriculture.

The conference looks at real problems on the ground. Leaders will study state-specific priorities and practical solutions. They want better coordination between schemes and stronger delivery at the field level. The closing session will prepare a roadmap for the Rabi season. This roadmap supports the vision of 'Atmanirbharta & Viksit Bharat' with food and nutritional security.

• Day 1 will hold three rounds of parallel group discussions on major themes.
• The themes cover Atmanirbharta and production growth, climate-resilient farming, and digital agriculture, infrastructure and financing.
• Topics include pulses, oilseeds, oil palm, horticulture, cotton, seeds, natural farming, soil health, farm mechanisation, marketing reforms and the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
• Day 2 will discuss the Rabi weather outlook, fertilizer supply, the Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmer Registry, AgriStack and the National Mission on Edible Oils.
• State Agriculture Ministers will share their views, and the closing session will set a roadmap for the Rabi season.
