The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi closed its Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on October 2, 2026. The drive ran from September 17 and focused on clean surroundings, smart waste handling, and tree planting. What Happened

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, finished its Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on October 2, 2026. The Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga ran the drive from September 17 to October 2, 2026. This year's theme was “Swachhata Mein Sabhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”.

On the closing day, a campus-wide clean-up drive took place. Director Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Prajapati joined the event with other senior faculty and staff. He said cleanliness and hygiene are a shared duty. He asked everyone to make Swachhata a daily habit. Those present also took a Swachhata Pledge to keep their surroundings clean and handle waste well. Safai Mitras were honoured for their steady work in keeping the Institute clean.

A tree plantation drive was also held in the NTPC area under the “Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam” initiative. Several deans, Dr. Raja Ram Mahto, faculty members, and scholars joined the drive.

Cleanliness is not a one-day task. When you sort your waste at home, you reduce the load that reaches landfills. The campaign showed how small habits, like home composting and skipping single-use plastic, add up over time. The tree planting drive also helps make the area greener and cooler for everyone.

Patients and their families were part of the learning too. Talks were held in hospital waiting areas on four-way waste segregation, home composting, the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle rule, and saying no to single-use plastic. If you visit a hospital, these small steps help keep the space safe for others. Shramdaan activities also covered office premises, indoor areas, and spots in and around the campus.

The Institute is not stopping here. Special Campaign 6.0 is already running and will continue till October 31, 2026. Its focus is on collecting, separating, and disposing of e-waste properly.
